Published Sun. Oct 2nd, 2016 Washington’s 44-6 Rout of Stanford Lands Huskies in Top 10
It’s been a long time coming, but Washington finally put together a much needed signature win over a top 10 program. The result thrust the Huskies into the national spotlight themselves, garnering the Huskies their first Top 10 appearance in the Billingsley Report since November of 2001 (coming in at #8). Although the season is still young, contenders for the four playoff spots in the College Football Playoff are certainly taking shape. Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan are the front runners but Washington has now added their name to the elite list along with Houston, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. The Aggies host the Volunteers this coming Saturday in a much anticipated SWC West showdown. Baylor, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, and West Virginia remain unbeaten, but their early schedules have been so suspect, it’s hard to consider them among the elite at this point, but all of them have enough tough upcoming games to turn that statement around. Don’t go to sleep on the Broncos……both of them. Boise State and Western Michigan are both undefeated as well. Stay tuned for weekend projections coming Wednesday. Billingsley is 11-1 in his personal picks over the last two weeks……that just put a jinx on him for sure!
