About Richard Billingsley
Richard Billingsley’s passion for college football came quite naturally. Born into a football fanatical family in rural Hugo, Oklahoma in the post dust bowl era in 1951, Richard was raised around family, neighbors and friends gathering around the radio every fall listening to Sooner football. At the age of 15 Richard began compiling scrapbooks of college football schedules and scores which almost 40 years later turned into one of the world’s largest historical databases on the sport.
Frustrated with Sportswriter Polls and Coaches Polls Richard created his own rating system in 1970, The Billingsley Report , and in 1999 the Billingsley Report became part of determining the National Championship in College Football through inclusion in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Later, in 2005, Richard collaborated with famed author Michael MacCambridge to create a best seller in “The ESPN College Football Encyclopedia”. What you see here on the pages of CFRC.com is a lifetime of research, one man’s legacy to the sport he loves so much. All we can say is, ENJOY!
