The Volunteers appeared headed toward another miracle finish before throwing an interception in the second overtime, giving the Aggies a hard fought home victory. Florida State blocked a game tying extra point try late in the game to secure a 20-19 win over division leading Miami (Fla.) and Virginia Tech totally dominated favored North Carolina 34-3. In the Big 12 Oklahoma outlasted Texas 45-40 to win the Red River Showdown and in the SEC Alabama rolled over Arkansas 49-30.
